As I was coming home from work today, my mom pulled over the car. She looked me in the eyes and said, " Bri, what do you think about living somewhere else, just me and you". As I have been living with my mom and her boyfriend for about 10 years, it came as a shock.. I realized that in a moment, my life is going to really change. I don't know, I guess I just always took all of it for granted, I just assumed that they would always be together, and it's in in this moment that I guess I realized I never really appreciated the little things in life..
You see, when your looking back on a relationship after its over, your going to think about the big things they did for you whether it be buying you expensive gifts or what not.. You will realize that anyone can do this for you, but you will really miss the times where you two just sat around and laughed watching movies and doing stupid things, or the times where you would stay up all night on the phone, and they would listen to all your problems. The little things..
But why do we miss them so much? Its the simple fact that, you never truly know what you have until its gone, its in the time that you are wishing that you had all those times back that you really appreciate them. I guess, my house, my family, my life as I knew it was all something I took for granted I always just assumed it was going to be there. There were days where I hated this place, and wished I lived anywhere else but now I am holding on to any faith of still living here.
Its just kind of messed up especially for me, I am only seventeen and have already had my dad walk out on me, now I am going to have another father figure gone too. As your reading this, appreciate everything your parents do for you, and appreciate the life they give you, because tomorrow your life could truly change.. Your mother or father could get into a car accident, and the last thing you said to them was " I hate you " because they didn't let you go out that Friday night. Tell them that you love them, because I ensure you, that you will be saying it when they are gone..
All I am saying is, we in our lives as North Americans get so much given to us, that we don't even appreciate it, go thank your parents for the life that they give you, go thank your boyfriend/girlfriend for all the little things they do to keep you happy, and just...
Appreciate The Little Things In Life.
